I've been working on step 3 of the Snowflake Method: Character Development for the past week or so. It has been an interesting experience! I've had to do some soul searching--but not my soul! It's Hanover's, Lottie's, Dave's and Mickey's! I've had to uncover their motivations, identify their backstories, determine their goals and make some hard decisions. I wonder how their characters will grow as I continue to develop their dreams and their struggles? Don't forget to follow my writing journey on Instagram @jenniferferroauthor.  Enjoy this glimpse of Dave:

For many years, Dave’s Garage has provided the people of Duckingsbridge with exceptional and dependable service for their vehicles. Dave’s grandfather built the garage and its impeccable reputation when the first automobiles in production made their way into the small town. When Dave took over his grandfather’s business, he inherited an old roadster. He made a promise to his grandfather to restore the roadster to its original beauty and uphold the legacy for which Dave’s Garage stood.  And he had. But somehow, of late, business is not as usual.  Shoddy work, unhappy customers and unpaid bills are piling up. Then Hurricane Horace thunders through Duckingsbridge, leaving the garage roof in shambles and a beleaguered business on the verge of shuttering forever. When the roadster goes missing, Dave is ready to walk away. He’s had enough.  But there’s something about that cute little bat that has him thinking, and in the quiet, Dave talks to the bat, sharing his worries and ponderings. In the days that follow, a flow of timely and helpful financial information makes its way to Dave’s Garage and gives Dave the strategies to turn his business woes around. And in the end, Dave learns the value of a helpful hand and the joy of a blessing given.
